A small plane (Cirrus SR20) hit a fifty story building around the twentieth floor. The building was on 524 East 72nd Street, New York, New York, in Manhattan. It was called the Belaire Condominiums. Only four people died. Two of which were in the plane, and the other two were on the street. It is also known that 11 firefighters were injured and 4 civilians, but no injuries were fatal.
When the plane crashed, only half (or less) went into the building, and the rest fell to the street. As a matter of fact, only the engine was found in the building.
It is also known that the plane was a Cirrus SR20, a fairly new plane, (Tail number: N929CD), which was owned by (and had a registration pending to) Cory Lidle, a 34 year old pitcher for the Yankees. His passport was found on the ground, so it is known he is dead. He was married and had a six year old son named Christopher.
Apparently, while he was flying, there was a fuel problem, and that is why there were scorch marks on the building.
People said that first they heard a buzzing, and then a sound which was like an explosion, and when they looked, it was like a burst of fire (like a giant mushroom of fire, someone said). The fire was a four-alarm with more than 150 firefighters. There were hundreds of police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances.
Fortunately, the crash had nothing to do with terrorists. It took off from Teeterboro Airport, New Jersey and hit Belaire Condominiums approximately 12 minutes later.
The fire only went about two stories in those four apartments. If you look closely, you’ll see a fireman. There were investigators in there taking pictures and searching for bodies or any information they didn’t have.
All right, I need to explain this. I wrote this on: "Wednesday, October 11, 2006 about 2:45 PM", according to it. I was 11, so please be nice!
Now, I know you're probably wondering WHY I posted this. Mostly, because I found it on my computer and thought it was adorable. And I haven't updated in a while. And when I first wrote it, my teacher kept it posted in the room and still has it up in her classroom now as a demonstration of informative writing, which makes me happy! lol, anyway, at the time, I was really into journalism (mostly because of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report), and I caught this news story. From what I remember, I watched it for four hours straight, filling almost eight pages in a notebook, then I condensed it into this.

Disclaimer: I got the information from CNN, which I do not own, nor am I affiliated with it in any way, shape, or form. The picture came from a news website (I think it was CNN, too, but maybe not), and I don't own it. I'm not sure who does, but if the copyright owner wants me to take it off, I will. I only included it because my "report" made no sense without it.
